The Happening
So the movie I picked was The Happening. For a brief summary plants have evolved for some reason and release these toxins into the air which messes with human neurotransmitters. Because of this humans start killing themselves for no apparent reason. Our main character's goal throughout the movie is to keep his wife and his friends daughter alive. He encounters many problems along the way but eventually survives. If i were to rate this movie i would probably give it about a B+. There are some things that i don't understand and i don't know if it's just me or if it just in general does not make sense. I don't understand the whole mood ring thing that the director comes back to three or four times. I don't see the relevance of it to the movie. Another thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the director brings the main character's marital problems into the movie. Now, i understand that it could give us an emotional connection to the main character but if that were the case then i don't like his approach of presenting that. His wife gets these phone calls from another man that she apparently had dinner with one time. Then his wife lets him know that she had dinner with another man and told him she was at work. He does get upset by this a bit but then he reveals this story of him flirting with a woman at the pharmacy. If it were the case that he was trying to give the audience an emotional attachment to the main character i think there were a lot better ways of doing that. This movie has a very interesting story line and some of the deaths in this movie are surprising and keep you wondering what will happen next. I really like the scene where our main character, his wife, his friends daughter, and two other teenage boys stop at a house to ask for food and rest. The people in this house are paranoid and will not allow them to rest. The people in the house shoot the two teenage boys. I believe this scene really gives you the shock of the whole situation. Up until this point i was thinking to myself "yeah, that would be pretty scary to have plants messing with your brain." After seeing this scene i really understood the world-wide panic that was going on. I also like the scene with the crazy old woman that almost regrettably gives them shelter and a meal for one night. She makes this statement, "the world don't care about me and i don't care about the world." After hearing what she said i made the realization that the world really doesn't care. What i mean is that mother nature could not care less about the human species and if mother nature really felt the need she could rid the planet of our race. So this movie had its strong points but it also had some confusing moments that could have been explained a little better.

Stepbrothers
I consider the film Stepbrothers to be one of my favorite movies. It is one of my favorites because it has so much comedy in it. The scenes they have make me laugh and wonder "who comes up with this stuff?" What matters to me the most is the story line; two families coming together and just trying to make the best of it. What also is important to me is how well the actors work together. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are not my favorite actors but they is definately work very well together. I think that the fact that Will and John play nerdy man children adds to the comedy. I think the reason this movie is so amusing is because most families are divorced in this time period and most families have problems adjusting to the new environment of the parents getting remarried.

Response to Winning isn't everything
I
don’t know very much about football and to say the least I could not be more
uninterested in this article. Although I’m not a raging football fan as are
some people I do agree that winning is not everything. If you play your hardest
and really work at it then you deserve to win. In professional sports you have
millions of people watching you play and in then end it just comes down to how
you present yourself. Say you’re a professional player of a sport and you act
with poor sportsmanship. Your millions of fans are watching you play and they
see all this poor sportsmanship. After watching you act the way you do they might
even take it as far as changing their favorite team and that means you lose
money. Even if you’re not a professional player no one ever likes poor
sportsmanship. If you play your game and you really work your hardest and you
have good sportsmanship along the way then your fans are proud to be on your
side regardless if you win or lose. So, I agree that winning is not everything.

Those Against The Plege
Those
who support the removal of the pledge from schools believe that our laws say
that we have freedom of speech and to force people to stand up and speak when
they feel that they shouldn’t is illegal. Supporters also believe that people
that are in the United States from other countries or even people who are
strong supporters of their family’s heritage feel that they should not have to
pledge their allegiance to only one country.
Followers of the Pledge of Allegiance
Followers of the Pledge of
Allegiance believe that it is an important way to express loyalty to this
country and all that it stands for. They believe that it shouldn’t matter what
country you come from, as long as you are in the United States you should be
respecting the flag and its meaning. Many also respect the fact that this
country was built by the founding fathers under God and by removing the
statement “under God” from the pledge would be cutting out a piece of our
nation’s history.
